Plumbrella

Fell in love with these black Plumbrellas from Aerosoles when le bf pulled me into a Sincere late afternoon. There was a sale. We had just finished watching 最强喜事 or All's Well, Ends Well (always amused by the use of cliched proverbs in Hong Kong films titles) and were headed to the flower market (花市). Perhaps it was because we walked into the dark theater with extremely low expectations - le andy eyes read a critique that gave it a 2.5 out of 5 - we did get a few laughs out of it. And misty-eyed on my part. But that is no surprise. I digress. Anyway, these babies were on sale for HK$699 which equates to roughly US$90 and they looked and felt gorgeous. The elongated legs, the black soles, I could feel my materialistic instincts urging to purchase these Plumbrellas. Thankfully I staid put and came to my senses and just now I checked online they were only retailing for US$40-US$80 or so.

Appearances don't count.

Or do they?

Came across this fabulous representation of prejudice on 9gag and the brain immediately procured the image of the twins, Crystal and Jade. With faces painted with makeup, the two view the world through their iris-enlarging contacts in the most curious of ways. You'd think they would be all for skinny models and doodling beautifully clad figurines but no. Crystal Renn at her largest is considered attractive (despite their rail-thin figures), Facebook - the social media which has captured the world by a storm - they do not touch, and Stewie look-a-likes escape from underneath their pens. Here I am, enjoying their company and candy-feeding habits while seven months ago I would never even dare to be alone in the same room as the two.

what i'm looking forward to

Change. For the better. Change in environment, change in culture, change in lifestyle, change in friendships, change in values. So sick of the same routine. The same twenty minute walk down the steps of Sheung Wan. The classroom walls.

It's time to experiment, to make attempts, to TRY something new! Make a purchase on taobao, pay a visit Toy Story land, find a job in North America. Go on a mission trip. Break the monotony, the comfortable space that leaves no room for improvement, for inspiration.
